The 49th Annual ACM Awards take place this Sunday April 6th! Below are some of my predictions of who will win the award and who I think should win!
Entertainer of the Year

Predicted Winner: Luke Bryan
Who I Wish Would Win: Taylor Swift or George Strait or Blake Shelton.
Nothing against Luke Bryan but I’d rather see anyone on the list take home the award. I don’t think this was a huge year for Miranda Lambert – but as entertainers, Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton and George Strait are all at the top of my list.
Taylor Swift has had an incredible year with her Red tour. It was one of the most successful of any genre. The academy may vote against Taylor as some feel she has turned her back on country music. George Strait is a legend and is on his farewell Cowboy Rides Away Tour and the academy may take that into consideration. Blake Shelton is without a doubt a great spokesman for country music with his job on The Voice but he has also played to thousands with his Ten Times Crazier Tour.

Predicted Winner: Luke Bryan
Who I Wish Would Win: Keith Urban
This is another award I think Luke will take home. Keith Urban has such a distinct voice; I’d love for him to take the trophy home this year. He has not won in this category since 2006. Yup, you read that right.
Female Vocalist of the Year
Sheryl Crow
Miranda Lambert
Kacey Musgraves
Taylor Swift
Carrie Underwood
Predicted Winner: Miranda Lambert
Who I Wish Would Win: Carrie Underwood
No disrespect to Miranda Lambert – she’s one of my favourite artists but she has now taken home the award four years in a row. It’s time to celebrate another voice in country music.
Carrie Underwood seems to get lost in this category lately the past few years. The last time her powerhouse voice won the award was back in 2009. This may have something to do with rumours of Carrie not being the sweetest behind the scenes, but regardless if that’s true or not her talent is undeniable and she has one of the best voices in ANY genre of music. I mean that.

Florida Georgia Line has had an incredible year and will take home the trophy in this category.

The Band Perry
Zac Brown Band
Predicted Winner: Little Big Town
Who I Wish Would Win: The Band Perry
The Band Perry always seem to get forgotten at award shows and I’m never sure why. In my opinion, their album, Pioneer was one of the best albums of last year. Kimberly has an incredible raspy voice that I could recognize anywhere. The band last won this award in 2011.

Luke Bryan will win the award. I would absolutely love to see the academy vote for Kacey Musgraves here – but I just don’t think she has had enough success with radio and some of the voters may not love her stance on marijuana and gay rights.

Does anyone else feel like “Cruise” has been around too long? I really wish “Wagon Wheel” would take home the award.

Who I Wish Would Win: “Mine Would Be You” – Blake Shelton or “I Drive Your Truck” – Lee Brice
I’d love to see our Canadian friend Deric Ruttan take home an award for his co-write on “Mine Would Be You” – but I think Lee Brice’s emotional “I Drive Your Truck” will take home the trophy.

Predicted Winner: “Highway Don’t Care” – Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift & Keith Urban
Who I Wish Would Win: “Mama’s Broken Heart” – Miranda Lambert
The star power and message behind “Highway Don’t Care” is just too powerful not to get the academy’s attention. However, I disagree with the direction of that video and think Miranda Lambert’s video for “Mama’s Broken Heart” should take home the trophy.
