5 Things You Missed At CCMA 2016 Fanfest

Country Music Week has kicked off in London, Ontario! One FAN favourite is the Huron County FanFest, also taking place during London’s version of the CNE, the Western Fair. FanFest features back-to-back performances by TEN of some of country music’s biggest and brightest Canadian stars, including Tim Hicks, Jess Moskaluke, Wes Mack, Lindsay Ell, Chad Brownlee, Brett Kissel, Deric Ruttan, Madeline Merlo, and The Road Hammers. Hundreds of people line up to meet and greet their favourites, and rock out to the performances in cowboy boots.

1. All the local students gawking over Madeline Merlo

When I asked, “who did you come here to see?” they said, “Madeline Merlo is hot.” I mean, I have to agree with them. Madeline Merlo isn’t just an amazing artist, she’s a straight hottie.

2. Lindsay Ell performing Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself

Who would have ever thought that country artists would cover Bieber tunes? Here’s a video of Lindsay performing it at Radio Disney Country.

3. Floating Tim Hicks heads

I think all of Ontario may have just come for Tim Hicks. There were also floating Tim Hick’s heads.

4. Brett Kissel getting awarded with his Gold record plaque for ‘Airwaves’

Brett Kissel’s record label guys showed up on stage and presented him with his plaque for his single ‘Airwaves’ going Gold in Canada (40,000 sales).

4. The smell of manure

The stage was set-up inside the Agriplex, which is also the home of their rodeo derbies. Cows are wandering around in cages not far from the stage, and I’m wandering around in a field of manure with 500 country fans.

5. The Road Hammers

Simple. You missed The Road Hammers. They even performed Purple Rain, and got an encore!
