Artists crack down on scalpers

Some of country music’s biggest names have come together to support the The Tennessee Sports & Entertainment Industry as they put foward legislation that protects fans in the state of Tennessee from money hungry ticket scalpers.

According to Country Weekly, the group hopes the act will end deceptive marketing of resale tickets to concerts and sporting events. If this act is passed it should provide fans with greater opportunities to get tickets and more reasonable ticket prices.

Eric Church recently discovered his fan club had been filled with scalpers who bought special tickets and regularly priced tickets and then sold them for hundreds of dollars.

“As an entertainer, you want your fans to be able to attend a show with their friends or family and for the entire experience to be affordable.” He said. “We’re not asking for a ban on scalping, but there have to be rules in place that protect the fans and keep them from getting ripped off like this.”
