Little Big Town is THE band right now. No other way to put it. Their music, harmony vocals, stage presence, and live show are everything that country music is all about. They displayed that perfectly on Saturday night to a sold out crowd at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton.

High Valley had the honour of getting the crowd warmed up…. and did they ever. Playing to their ‘hometown crowd’ is always a thrill for the Rempel brothers from La Crete, Alberta (8 hours north of Edmonton). They performed their hits like ‘On the Combine’, ‘Have I Told You I Love You Lately’, and their current single ‘Love You For a Long Time’. They even debuted a new song called ‘Rescue You’, which is destined to top the charts. Their musical style, along with their sibling harmonies was a perfect fit with Little Big Town. The crowd made sure they knew it too, giving the boys a standing ovation before they left the stage.

LBT opened the show with the lead track off their new album Tornado, ‘Pavement Ends’. They cut through many of their hits throughout the 90 minute show including ‘I’m With the Band’, ‘Good as Gone’, and ‘Bring It On Home’. They also through in a few crowd pleasing covers including their bluegrass influenced cover of Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way’ and Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘The Chain’.

Their new single ‘Your Side of the Bed’ showcased powerhouse, emotion filled vocals from married members Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild. Combined with the harmonies of fellow members Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet – the result is pure gold, or maybe even platinum.

By the time they reached their mega-hits ‘Pontoon’, ‘Tornado’, and ‘Boondocks’ – LBT had already proved just why they are the Vocal Group of the Year. They’ve earned it.

If you get the chance to see these each of these artists live, don’t miss the opportunity. It’s well worth every penny.
