R: Love Actually, The Holiday , Home for the Holidays

K: Love Actually, Christmas Vacation, Home For The Holidays

4. Top 2 things every Christmas Carol needs

R: I gravitate towards female lead songs with the giant endings that bring me to tears.  Bells and symphonies are always nice too!

K: Jingle Bells and Cheese with some Major 7ths.

5. Top 3 Christmas Treats

R: My Mom’s baking: her butter tarts, Hello Dollie bars and jam jams

K: Shortbread Cookies, chocolate anything and Morden’s Russian Mints

6. Worst Christmas present you ever received

R: When I was 12, my parents bought me a black and fluorescent pink snow suit and huge white Sorel boots since our family used to snowmobile in the country a lot.  Sorel boots are cool now but back in the day as a 12 year kid, I cried when I received these gifts.  Looking back now, I feel horrible that I wasn’t grateful at the time since they paid a lot for everything but I was a teenager and dressing up warm wasn’t cool.

K:  I haven’t received a bad one

7. Any funny Christmas memories or stories?

KNR: Playing a half hour set at the corner of Portage and Main in Winnipeg for their festival of lights at 35 below- It wasn’t too funny at the time though.

8. Real Christmas tree or fake?

R: Although I love the smell of a real tree in the house, I have a fake one I bought from a thrift store (save on environment and trees!)

K: Real.

9. Your top 3 Holiday Traditions?

R: Listening to Celine Dion and Sarah McLaughlin’s Christmas albums (really gets me in the spirit of Christmas).

Going to midnight mass on Christmas eve with my family followed by Reveillon (French Canadian Christmas party) eating a turkey dinner at 2 AM!

Decorating the tree with my dad at my parents home while having a merry drink and listening to Christmas tunes.

K: Going to the cabin.

Jamming at Fred Penner’s Christmas party.

Playing music at my church.

10. Who has the funniest Christmas sweater?

R: My Uncle Gil.

K: JP Hoe.

11. What’s at the top of your Christmas list?

KNR: A top 10 single.

12. What goes on top of your tree?

R: I love ornaments from Anthropologie so normally a bohemian looking angel sits on top of my tree.
