TC Exclusive Interview with The Road Hammers

Top Country got the chance to chat with The Road Hammers about their recent JUNO nomination, their JUNO nominated album Wheelsand what it was like working with Colt Ford on their current single “Hillbilly Highway”. Read our exclusive interview with them below!

TC: Congratulations on your JUNO nomination, how does it feel?

JASON: The Road Hammers were lucky enough to receive a JUNO in 2006, it’s amazing that we not only get to make music for a living, but to be here almost 10 years later doing what we love is truly humbling. We’re proud Canadians, and we’re honoured to be in the mix with so many talented artists.

TC: This is your third nomination, is it still as exciting as your first?

CLAYTON: YES! I felt like a kid again when I heard the news. It really is the highest honour as a musician you can receive and to be nominated for your work never gets old.

TC: Why do you think Wheels has resonated so strongly with fans?

CHRIS: Well, this record resonated really strongly with us, and that’s key for this band. We don’t want to sing songs TO our fans as much as we want to sing WITH our fans.

TC: How would you say Wheels compares to your previously nominated album The Road Hammers II?

CHRIS: The Road Hammers II is a moment in time for the band that was pretty strenuous and it shows in the songs. Wheels was created in the original spirit of the band-lettin’ the good times roll!

TC: What was it like working with Colt Ford on “Hillbilly Highway”?

JASON: Colt and the band have a kindred spirit, we’ve been fans for some time, it was great working with our Southern brother… he’s an unofficial member of the band now!

TC: What was the best part about making the music video?

CLAYTON: I love to ride motorcycles, so being able to get out on the Highway on my Triumph was awesome!
