Toronto, ON – (August 13, 2014) – With four Top 10 singles, nearly 3 million YouTube hits, two JUNO Award nominations and his third GOLD-certified single (with the viral hit “Stronger Beer”), multiple 2014 CCMA Award Nominee and Niagara, ON, native, Tim Hicks, has achieved what many artists would strive for in a decade. His sophomore album “5:01” (Open Road Recordings/Universal Music Canada) debuted today at #1 on the SoundScan Country Album sales chart, making this Hicks’ first #1 country album.

This week, Hicks was announced as an opener on the second leg of American country star Dierks Bentley’s “RISER” Tour, which will be making multiple stops across Canada this Fall. 8 Canadian markets have been announced so far. In addition, Hicks was announced last week in the first round of performers on the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) show, which will be broadcast live on CBC on Sunday, Sept 7th. Tim will perform alongside Dean Brody, Dallas Smith, Little Big Town, and Dierks Bentley. Hicks has been nominated for four 2014 CCMA Awards including Rising Star, Album of the Year (for his debut album Throwdown), Songwriter of the Year for “Hell Raisin’ Good Time” and CMT Video of the Year for “Got A Feeling” featuring Blackjack Billy.

Hicks has had his busiest summer to date, performing at multiple large-scale festivals, with the highlight being last weekend’s 2014 Boots & Hearts Music Festival, where Hicks played alongside Lee Brice and Luke Bryan to a crowd of 35,000. Also, if summer has not been exciting enough, Hicks was just awarded his third GOLD-certified single, for the viral hit “Stronger Beer.” Even though the song was never released to radio, it took on a life of it’s own online through social media – with the lyric video being viewed nearly 1 Million times.

In 2013, after 250,000 downloads, Hicks became the #1 highest selling digital Canadian Country Artist of the Year, as well as the Most Played Debut Artist overall at Country radio. Since, Hicks has also been honoured with a Canadian Radio Music Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, a SOCAN award for his debut single “Get By,” and a Country Music Association of Ontario Award for Male Artist of the Year.

The lead single “Here Comes The Thunder” from the album 5:01 is poised to hit Top 10 this week at country radio – and has been also added to rotation at SiriusXM’s “The Highway.” This is Hicks’ first single to receive American airplay. Watch the brand new video for “Here Comes The Thunder” here.
