Mother's Day Songs

Best country songs to send to your mom this Mother’s Day

BY: JESSICA BEUKER

Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 13 and as always, it is the perfect day to tell mom just how much you love her. Of course, you should be doing that everyday, but Mother’s Day is a great excuse to go above and beyond what you normally do for mom.

And if you don’t have kids of your own and your own mom is no longer around, or isn’t involved in your life, that doesn’t mean that you still can’t celebrate. Celebrate with a mom you admire – your stepmom, an aunt, a friend. Or even just someone you see in passing with their kids, don’t be afraid to with them a Happy Mother’s Day too.

Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be about expensive gifts and fancy dinners. Yes, it is nice to pamper mom for all that she has done for you, but if you don’t have the money to do so, it’s probably best that you stick to something within your means (and I’m sure your mother would agree with me on that one). Besides, more often than not the best gifts are the ones that money can’t buy.

Some great ideas that don’t require a lot of money, but a lot of heart include: writing a letter, making a photo album, cooking a nice dinner or sending her a song.

To help you out, we’ve rounded up some of the best country songs to send your mom this Mother’s Day. Any one on this list is guaranteed to make her special day.

1. Like My Mother Does – Lauren Alaina

“People always say I have a laugh like my mother does/Guess that makes sense, she taught me how to smile when things get rough/I’ve got her spirit, she’s always got my back/ When I look at her I think, I want to be just like that.”

2. 26 Cents – The Wilkinsons

“Then she read the note that her momma had wrote, wrapped up with 26 cents/When you get lonely, call me, anytime at all and I’ll be there with you, always, anywhere at all/There’s nothing I’ve got that I wouldn’t give and money is never enough/Here’s a penny for your thoughts, a quarter for the call, and all of your momma’s love.”

3. Somebody’s Hero – Jamie O’Neal

“She’s somebody’s hero/A hero to her baby with a skinned up knee/A little kiss is all she needs/The keeper of the cheerios/The voice that brings snow white to life/Bedtime stories every night/That smile lets her know, she’s somebody’s hero.”

4. Everyday Woman – Emerson Drive

“You don’t put on a lot of makeup/You like to wear your hair pulled back/When the kids’ll call, you come a runnin’/You always put yourself last/Most people would say you’re an everyday woman, but you’re everything to me/You are so beautiful/You’re an angel I can see.”

5. 20 Years Late – Aaron Lines

“You were a taxicab driver, a nurse and a maid/A waitress, a cook and a shoulder to lay my head on, to cry on, when nothing was going my way/ You knew every answer without cracking a book/And I took for granted that I had it so good/ And I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to say/Thank you I love you, twenty years late.”
