This week’s “Pick of the Week” is Chad Brownlee’s fun new song, “Where The Party At?” and Top Country got the chance to ask him some questions about his latest single and songwriting in general!
Q:
What drew you to the song?
A:
I was in Nashville at a songwriters cafe and a good friend of ours, Kelly Archer (“Hood Of My Car”) was on stage and played this ‘new song’ she had just written. It immediately got my attention and from that moment on I began to make it my own. It is just so different from what we had done in the past, I wanted to make something fresh and new for my fans.
Q:
What’s a specific line or lyric from it that you particularly love?
A:
The opening line “Girl that dress is a loaded gun” is such a unique way of describing how dangerously beautiful a woman can be.
Q:
Are there any words you love or hate to use in songs?
A:
You probably won’t hear me sayin’ “ya’ll”. Some can pull it off, but being Canadian it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
Q:
Who are some of your songwriting heroes?
A:
Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Ray LaMontagne, Ben Glover, Lori McKenna, Holly Williams.
