Our favourite country singers are already pretty darn fantastic on their own. But take one country superstar and pair them with another country superstar and you’ve got an unstoppable power couple for the ages. Take a look at 5 of our favourite country music power couples below. Trust us when we say they are the ultimate definition of #couplegoals.
1. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood
Country legend Garth Brooks met his future wife and fellow country legend, Trisha Yearwood in 1987 while recording a demo. Brooks promised Yearwood that she could open for him when he got a record deal. When he released his first album two years later, he kept his word and the two country singers went on tour together. At the time they were both married to other people. Brooks was married to his college sweetheart, but they divorced in 2001, which was shortly after Yearwood also went through a divorce from her second husband. Quietly they got together and in 2002 the public found out about their secret romance. In 2005, in front of a concert crowd of 7,000 people, Brooks proposed to Yearwood on stage. They got married that same year and have been living happily ever after ever since.
2. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
In 1996 Faith Hill hit the road to open for rising country star, Tim McGraw. At this time, Hill was engaged to another man and McGraw was on track to marry his longtime girlfriend. But the sparks couldn’t be denied; before long Hill and McGraw got together and that very same year, got married. Together the couple have three daughters. And with parents like these two, it would be no surprise if the kids inherited some of that country music talent.
3. Keifer and Shawna Thompson
These two lovebirds makeup the country music duo, Thompson Square. They met at a solo singing competition in Nashville, Tennessee, and decided to form a duo both on the stage and off. The pair have been married for 18 years, as they married in 1999. They have one son together.
4. Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook
Fairchild and Westbrook make up two-fourths of the country music group, Little Big Town, which was formed in 1998. Shortly after forming the group, Fairchild divorced her husband, and eventually fell hard for Westbrook. Their love continued to blossom and the pair got married in 2006 in a very private ceremony. The adorable couple welcomed their first child four years later in 2010.
5. Hillary Scott and Chris Tyrrell
Front woman for breakout country group, Lady Antebellum, Scott met her sweetheart, Chris Tyrrell in college, but the two reconnected when Lady Antebellum and Tyrell’s band opened for Tim McGraw in 2010. Shortly after, the two began dating. In August 2010, Tyrell filled in for Lady Antebellum’s drummer for a month, and became their new full-time drummer in 2011. The couple got married in 2012 and welcomed a daughter in 2013. In 2015, Scott suffered a miscarriage, which inspired some of her music, including the song “Thy Will”. Currently, the two lovebirds are expecting twin daughters, which are expected to be born in February 2018.
