Canadian Country Artists We’re Thankful For This Thanksgiving

BY: BEN PAPAGEORGE

In case you didn’t know, Thanksgiving is this weekend! Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we’re thankful for in our lives. The long weekend allows us to take a break from our busy schedules and spend time with those closest to us.

As Canadians, we have so much to be grateful for and that includes our music! In honour of Thanksgiving in Canada, we decided to put together a list of the Canadian artists that we’re so thankful to have fill our playlists with amazing music.

This list could go on and on but here are a few of the Canadian country artists that we’re thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Jessica Mitchell

Jessica Mitchell has given country music fans a lot to be thankful for. In 2018 she released her debut album Heart of Glass and announced her first solo tour. A stunning performance at the CCMA Awards paired with an amazing music video for “Maybe It’s Me” has made us very grateful to have Jessica Mitchell on our playlists.

Dallas Smith

As one of the top names in Canadian country music, Dallas Smith always gives his fans something to be thankful for. His album Side Effects was just certified Gold and that’s not a surprise considering he is the reigning CCMA Male Artist of the Year!

The Reklaws

It’s been quite a year for the brother-sister duo known as The Reklaws! They followed up last year’s breakout single Hometown Kids with their top 5 hit Long Live the Night, and most recently released Feels Like That. On top of that they won the SiriusXM Rising Star Award at the CCMA Awards. Let’s be thankful to have this duo in our lives!

Honestly… where do we even begin? We have kind of been speechless today… because we are still trying to wrap our heads around everything that happened yesterday! We won the @ccmaofficial @siriusxmcanada RISING STAR Award!!! Is this real? Especially since we were alongside artists whom we have looked up to for such a long time! We are so thankful to everyone that voted, as it’s obvious that this is something we can not do by ourselves! Thank you to @umusic, @starseedent, @olemajorlyindie and @feldmanagency these people make this dream possible for us! Also, thank you to our family and the big man upstairs… because God’s plan and timing is everything! Lastly, thank you to the people that saw what we could achieve before we did! (@jeffreyremedios, @neever38, @matthewgrieve, @don.green, @mikekozelj, @tonyszambor, @kristen__burke… this list could go on and on) We love every single one of you, thank you for making it one of the best day of our lives! More pictures to come…. obviously! WE LOVE YOU ALL 🍾

Tenille Townes

As one of the freshest and most impressive voices in Canadian country music today, Tenille Townes gives us a lot to be thankful for. Her music itself is a gift to fans but she also challenges us to be grateful for what we have in life with music videos like this.

This is sweet Lynlee. She did such an incredible job being a big part of the #SomebodysDaughter video and I loved getting to know her hanging out on set. She’s four years old and told me all about her pets on her farm at home in Kentucky and how much she loves them all and she made little arts and crafts for everybody between takes. She had quite a fiery spirit about her too ha. She represents the beginning of everybody’s story to me. We were all once a kid full of wonder and we don’t always get to control the circumstances that shape us as we grow. There’s a lot I don’t understand about the cards we are dealt, but I do think there’s a lot we can learn from the kids around us and the way they see the world. And I think it’s powerful to remember we were all a little kid once upon a time.

Sons Of Daughters

When you hear Sons Of Daughters and their debut single Ain’t Gonna Be Lonely Long for the first time, it will definitely make you thankful that more music is coming from this amazing duo!

Jess Moskaluke

Jess Moskaluke has given us so much to be thankful for including the FORD Album of the Year Past the Past. She just released her holiday album A Small Town Christmas which is sure to get country music fans into the holiday spirit this winter!

Tim Hicks

Tim Hicks always fuels our playlists with party anthems and this year’s New Tattoo gave us plenty more reasons to be thankful for Tim Hicks. We can’t wait for his Get Loud tour next month!

She’s been making Canada proud ever since her debut in 2008 and we couldn’t be more thankful for her. She is always releasing amazing music and touring with the biggest stars in country music – most recently Keith Urban.
