First of all, we want to congratulate every nominee for this year’s CCMA Awards! Of course it wouldn’t be an award show without a list of unexpected nominees & snubs… Here are the Top Surprises of the 2019 CCMA Awards Nominees:
1. Paul Brandt
After three years without a nomination, Paul Brandt is finally back in the game…and deservingly so. The country star is up for the most coveted awards including Entertainer of the Year, Fans’ Choice and Male Artist of the Year. Now someone just needs to explain to us why the last time he was nominated for Male Artist of the Year was in 2009…like how?! It’s PAUL BRANDT. We’re just thankful he’s getting the recognition he deserves this year.
2. Rising Star
Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE all the nominees for this category but how is Tenille Townes not one of them?! Thankfully the star-to-be is up for several other awards including Female Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Single of the Year & more.
3. Single of the Year
Going on record to say that “Feels Like That” by The Reklaws should have been in this category… who’s with us?
4. Interactive Artist of the Year
After two years of being nominated for the award AND certainly one of the most engaging acts on social media, how are Hunter Brothers not up for this one?! Good thing their nominations for Fans’ Choice, Group of the Year and Album of the Year will certainly make up for it.
5. Guylaine Tanguay
With such incredible talent, we love that Quebec will be represented on the CCMA Awards this year. The Québécois country star is up for Female Artist of the Year and Fans’ Choice. A pleasant surprise for sure!
6. Artists Who Got Snubbed All Together…
While all the artists on this year’s nominee list absolutely deserve to be there, in our opinion, there are a few key members missing from the artist nomination list…the two most glaring are Madeline Merlo & Chad Brownlee. The two are pivotal to the Canadian country family. Hopefully fans will still get to see the two stars at country music week in Calgary!
