This month, our TC Fresh Find is Bobby Wills. Don’t know the name? You have more than likely heard his recent hit on Canadian country radio, ‘Show Some Respect’. Let’s find out more about the man behind the song.

Your single ‘Show Some Respect’ recently went Top 10. How exciting is that as a new artist on the scene?
A
Having a song go into the Top ten has been very exciting for our whole team. It’s very hard to articulate the feeling, but suffice it to say we are grateful for the support of country music fans and radio across Canada!!

Your album, If It Was That Easy will drop November 6th. Who was your biggest influence during the recording process?
A
The biggest influence on this project was my collaborators, Mike Pyle,who produced the record has really helped me define my sound. Writing with him and Walt Aldridge has taught me the difference between a good song and a great song – and what it takes to get it there.

What’s your favourite song on your upcoming album? Tell us why.
A
My favourite song on the album is tough to answer as I’m passionate about all of them… I guess if I have to pick one I would say its “Somebody Will”, as it was written around a conversation I had with my daughter a few years back. She told me that she desperately wanted to be a “big ballerina someday” and that an adult in her circle of influence told her that it wasn’t realistic and she should plan for something else. I think she was 8 or so at the time and I couldn’t believe that someone would tell a child not to dream. So I told her as we drove away, that somebody will be a professional dancer, somebody will achieve there dreams – with hard work and absolute dedication it could happen for her! (She is still dreaming today!)

Favourite musical memory so far?
A
My favourite musical memory is the first time I played an original song and a large number of the audience sang along!!! That was a huge moment for me, one I will always remember!

What’s coming up that fans should look forward to?
A
We are shooting the video for the second single ‘Somebody Will’ this month and the release will coincide with the album release on November 5th. We are also working on touring dates for spring and summer 2013 – so watch for those!

1. Favourite outdoor activity? – is laying on a Lawn chair somewhere in the Carribean!!!
2. George Strait or George Jones? Why? – George Strait. He was a star when I started listening to music as a kid and he is a star today. He has never wavered in his approach to country music and I admire the courage it takes to be who you are in the entertainment business.
3. Favourite dessert? – CeCe’s frozen yogurt in Franklin Tennessee – try it – it will change your life!!!
4. The one chore you hate to do? – I hate shoveling snow. I often find myself chiseling ice off the driveway because I put it off too long….
5. Stage or studio? – Stage – The studio is a combination of hard work and fun – The stage is just FUN!!!
