Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we’re grateful in our lives. The holiday allows us to take a break from our hectic schedules to reflect on what really matters. Family, friends and music! Our neighbours south of the border are celebrating their Thanksgiving holiday this weekend and we thought we’d put together a list of artists we’re thankful for.

 #1 Shania Twain

Shania Twain is arguably one of the most successful artists to come out of Canada in any genre. From hits like “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” to “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!”, Shania Twain has given us plenty of reasons to be thankful for her. After a 15 year hiatus and fresh off the release of her album “Now”, we can definitely remember why she is an all time great.

#2 Zac Brown Band

We have to be thankful for the band that gave us songs like “Chicken Fried” and “Homegrown”, among countless others. Zac Brown Band consistently gives country fans amazing music along with stunning live shows. Their country sound infused with southern rock and gospel inspired music make them one of the top acts in the game today.

#3 Taylor Swift

We sometimes forget that Taylor Swift was putting out some of the best country music around because she has moved on to a different sound in her music. Without her though, country music wouldn’t have found the following and popularity the genre has recently come across. Let’s be thankful for T-Swift’s impact on country music and all of the great music she has given us.

#4 Luke Bryan

Here’s a guy who turned non-country listeners into diehard fans with his catchy mega-hits like “Play It Again” and “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”. Luke Bryan is consistently giving us amazing music for any occasion whether it’s a road trip or a day at the beach.

#5 High Valley

The brothers are making waves across the United States and are from our own backyard. Their current single “Dear Life” peaked at #5 on the Canadian country radio charts and the boys are continuing to make a name for themselves across North America.

#6 Lindsay Ell

How can you not be thankful for the Canadian country star who gave us “Waiting On You” from her debut album “The Project”. The song is an amazing country jam with bluesy roots and it really showcases that Lindsay Ell has a bright future ahead of her, which is great for all of us.

#7 Florida Georgia Line

Calling Florida Georgia Line superstars would be an understatement. The duo’s diamond selling hit “Cruise” changed the country music genre forever and introduced country music to widespread popularity never seen by the genre. The pioneers of “Bro-Country”, their influence is heard in music everywhere today.

#8 Maren Morris

Maren Morris brings a certain sound that is rare to find in this day and age, mixing old school soul with a modern swagger. She is one of country music’s top acts, paving the way for women to follow in her path and has already given us plenty to be thankful for.

#9 Cole Swindell

Not only is Cole Swindell an established artist with a catalogue that speaks volumes, he is an amazing songwriter with credits ranging from Luke Bryan (“Beer In The Headlights”) to Thomas Rhett (“Get Me Some Of That”). The direct influence he has had on country music is felt in many other songs other than his own and we should be thankful for that.

#10 George Strait

The King of Country, George Strait is an artist that country fans young and old should be thankful for. A true pioneer of the genre, George Strait is considered one of the most influential recording artists of all time in any genre. He introduced festival style tours and was known for bringing country music back to it’s roots during the pop country era of the 1980’s. His influence is still felt today.
