Blaine’s ‘Life So Far’

It’s been quite the year for Jason Blaine. Two smash singles, his first CCMA Award, and a brand new baby girl – and 2012 isn’t over yet.

Jason grew up in Pembroke, Ontario and was passed down the love of music from his loving parents.  It was the beginning of something special.
Jason’s first introduction to the Canadian country music scene came in 2002 when he entered the Project Discovery talent search. Blaine walked away the winner and had a single hit radio shortly after. ‘That’s What I Do’ became his first hit at radio. Jason began working on a record and in 2005 his While We Were Waiting album was released. It featured the hit singles ‘ Heartache Like Mine’ and ‘What I Can’t Forget’.

Jason married his high school sweetheart Amy, and together they brought baby girl Grace into the world. Jason and his young family moved to Nashville in 2006, and he began recording his sophomore release. In 2007, the single ‘Rock In My Boot’ hit radio and helped to earn Jason a CCMA nomination for the Rising Star Award. That autumn, Blaine toured with Aaron Lines and released the album Make My Move. That album featured the hit singles ‘Good Day to Get Gone’, ‘My First Car’, and ‘Flirtin’ With Me’.

After two years touring, doing summer festivals, writing and recording for album number three – not to mention welcoming a baby boy named Carter into their growing family-  Jason began 2010 releasing a brand new single and video called ‘Numb’. Later that spring, Blaine released Sweet Sundown, just in time to hit the road with Brooks & Dunn. He appeared on the Canadian leg of The Last Rodeo Tour along with Gary Allan and of course, B&D.

Sundown featured singles like ‘Numb’, ‘Run With Me’, and ‘Hillbilly Girl’. It also featured a track that saw Blaine work with one of his heroes, Steve Wariner. Together they wrote and sang the duet ‘Home Is a Highway’, which is the closing track on the album.

Jason’s latest album and our TC Free CD Giveaway for October, Life So Far, was released last fall and featured the track ‘They Don’t Make ‘Em Like That Anymore’.  The song was written for his grandparents, who also appear in the video with many of Blaine’s family members. The song was an instant smash, connected with fans right across the country, and was one of the most played songs of the year. Last month in Saskatoon at the CCMAs, after many nominations over the years, Jason finally took home an award. CCMA Single of the Year was awarded to the song that means so much to him, and his grandparents and parents were in the audience to celebrate as well. Pretty darn cool.

Speaking of cool, Life So Far also features the hit song ‘Cool’, and the brand new single  ‘On a Night Like This’, which is already making a splash at radio. 2012 also brought Jason and Amy their third child. Their baby girl, Sara, made her debut in July. It’s been a banner year for Jason Blaine, personally and professionally – which is why he’s our October Artist of the Month here on Top Country.
