TC recently got the chance to chat with Dallas Smith about his new EP Tippin’ Point and what he’s most looking forward to doing when he hits the road again with Florida Georgia Line this month! Read the full interview below.

TC: How would you say the Tippin’ Point EP compares to your previous album, Jumped Right In?

DS: We knew it was going to be a shortened record so I wanted to really keep it upbeat, I wanted a bunch of songs for the summer – no slow songs just ones that would be great for backyard barbeques and cranking in the car.

TC: What’s a song on the EP that you’re particularly proud of and why?

DS: Tough to say, I’m pretty proud of all of them. “Slow Rollin” is the next single and that one I’m really, really excited to get out. I really like my vocal take on it and what I was able to do – I just love that song and I can’t wait to see what it does. The song that actually surprises me though is a song called “A Girl Like You”. It was one that we were almost considering taking off and replacing with another song – not that I didn’t like the song – there is just something different about it and I wasn’t sure it was going to fit the EP, but now that the EP has been out I’ve noticed that that song has been by far one of the most downloaded songs from the EP on iTunes. It’s just really neat to see those sort of ‘sleeper songs’ that you wouldn’t expect do what they do.

TC: Why do you think your single “Tippin’ Point” has connected so well with fans?

DS: You know you really never know with those things. I just really think the chorus is something that’s so different from anything on country radio and it’s just such an earworm, it really gets stuck in your head.

TC: What are you most looking forward to doing when you head back out on tour with Florida Georgia Line?

DS: Well I had 25 dates with them down in the US at the end of last year and I’m excited to get back out with the guys and just hang out with them, they’re fun guys and that whole crew that they have from the tour manager all the way down to the rigging guys are all great guys. I told them when we were in the US that the Canadian market is kind of starving for them so I told them to expect a big party and a very energetic crowd, so I’m excited to see the Canadian fans and show them that.

TC’s Fun 5

4. Something you can’t leave home without? Pictures of my family.
