Top Country’s 12 Days of Christmas featuring Canadian country artists and their favourite Christmas memories along with a gift giveaway from Lammle’s Western Wear and Tack!

Day Eleven

Jason McCoy recently sat down with TC and chatted about his favourites at Christmas.

1. What is your favourite Christmas memory?

Being snowed in one year, with family at the house.  Roads were closed, hydro was out, so we had the fireplace going; it was amazing. It was like the entire world unplugged for a few days, we just enjoyed hanging out with each other, and it was the most peaceful time. That’s what I shoot for every Christmas, and hope for every day of the year.

2. What’s your favourite dish on your family’s Christmas menu?

My mother’s Gravy….on anything! In short, my mom is the best cook in the world….sorry other moms, just a fact!

3. What’s your all-time favourite Christmas song?

‘Santa Looked a Lot Like Daddy’ by Buck Owens is one of my faves….I didn’t quite understand it when I was a kid, but knew there was something to it…and heck it was Buck Owens – one of my heroes!

4. What’s your favourite family Christmas tradition?

TV off, lights low, and allowing the kids to open one and only one present Christmas eve, then talking about Jesus birth, and what Christmas really means.

5. What’s the one Christmas album you couldn’t live without?

Hmmm, not to sound ego driven, but I love Jason McCoy Christmas at the Grand, not because of me, but because we had a full big band, and so many amazing guests on it, including Colin James. At which point we learned we were actually related to each other through marriage…small world!
