TC: Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

BL: I grew up listening to a lot of country music and classic rock so I love artists like – Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Shania Twain and also Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks and Tom Cochrane, and of course, Canadian artist, Jan Arden! Some of my more current influences are artists like Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban and Jason Aldean. I also love Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey – there’s just too many to name! I love them all for different reasons, songwriting, vocal ability and musicianship. I love how each one offers a different approach to the expression of music!

TC: What made you decide to pursue a career in country music?

BL: Music has always been my first love along with singing and writing songs. I do love all kinds of music but I decided to pursue my career as a country artist because I want to stay true to my roots. I come from a small town in Lanark County and the country has always been home to me. I love the story a country song tells. When I write a song with just myself and my guitar, it comes out very country sounding and I guess I just want to showcase that.

TC: Can you tell us a bit about your current single “Bottom of the Bottle”?

BL: Sure!  ‘When I started writing ‘Bottom Of The Bottle’, I wanted to use my lyrics to describe a toxic relationship by comparing it to alcohol – it’s about the intoxication a relationship can make you feel – the same way alcohol can. It may feel good going down until you wake up the next day and realize it was a big mistake. Sometimes love is like that.

TC: You’ve already released three CDs in Canada and right now you are working on your first full length album – what can fans expect from this album?

BL: I am so excited to be able to say that this next album will be my first full length album recorded in Nashville! Music city! Most of all this is the album that has helped my career break through across the country with the amazing response I have received from Canadian Radio! This album has been a dream come true. My fans can expect this new collection of songs to be part of my learning curve in writing songs in Nashville – what it means to write a great country song shows on this album and not to mention the musicianship is amazing with players straight from Nashville! Some of whom have just come from the road with some of the greatest country acts!

TC: What has been one of your most memorable performances of your career so far?

BL: Performing for the first time in Nashville with a rocking band of Nashville musicians has been one of the most memorable performances for me! I also did some performing in London, England and that was an amazing experience too! I can’t ever forget getting to perform on Parliament Hill for the first time in Ottawa – the Nation’s Capital, which was a very proud moment for me!

TC: What do you have coming up this summer that fans can look forward to?

BL: We have been talking about doing another music video and I think this summer will give us the opportunity to do that! So stay tuned for another video and new music from me! Also, I get to open for Bobby Wills and The Small Town Pistols this summer at The Calabogie Country Music Festival which will be an amazing experience! I can’t wait to see and meet a lot of my fans at the shows this summer and say thank you to them for being so supportive. There are a lot of exciting things ahead and I will also get out to radio stations to meet my fans and supporters in those areas and show them just how thankful I am for making my dreams come true! My fans can always check for tour dates, music and announcements on my website, facebook and twitter pages too!
