Victoria, BC’s Ryan Cochrane is a leading force in the pool.  His biggest accomplishment in his career to date was winning an Olympic bronze in the men’s 1500m freestyle in 2008 in Beijing.

He began swimming with his twin brother at a Red Cross Learn to Swim program and after graduating from the program, he became immersed in competitive swimming through a summer camp put on by the local swim club, Island Swimming.

Cochrane is the Canadian record holder in the 400, 800 and 1500 freestyle and he won the Canadian male swimmer of the year award at the 2010 Big Splash Awards Gala.
