TC Christmas Q&A with The Orchard

16 Days until Christmas!

We’re counting down the days until Christmas by featuring a special Top Country Christmas Q&A with a different artist each day! Check out today’s Q&A with Mitch and Kasha from The Orchard!

1. Top way to countdown to Christmas

M: Advent calendars rule, even in your twenties!

K: Having littles that count down the days for you <3

2. Favourite Christmas Carol

M: I’ve always loved the haunting sound of Carol Of The Bells.

K: O holy night! So beautiful, especially in a room or church full of people holding candles and singing together :)

3. Top 3 Christmas movies, go!

M: Christmas Vacation, Christmas Vacation, Christmas Vacation!

K:  1.The Sound of Music, 2. The claymation movies…Rudolph, classic!, 3. The Polar Express

4. Top 2 things every Christmas Carol needs

M: The sound of sleigh bells and some classical guitar!

K: Sleigh bells and mistletoe! Just kidding! But those are two things that we only get once a year so gotta enjoy them! Anything the spreads warmth and being with people you love.

5. Top 3 Christmas Treats

M: Toblerone, Turtles, Egg Nog (substituted for milk the whole month of December).

K: Omgoodness any baking…and anything chocolate!

6. Worst Christmas present you ever received?

M: Duct Tape! (Only in rural Alberta).

K: Aww…I am not going to say…everything I’ve ever gotten was with the sweetest intentions ;)

7. Any funny Christmas memories or stories?

K: Nothing really funny but I’m a sucker for Christmas and magic. Although I love Christmas so much it’s been even better since having kids. It’s always full of memories and my heart is always full. The kids like earning money from chores and purchasing a gift each for the donation bins. That’s something special we started doing and we love it.

8. Real Christmas tree or fake?

M: My family has always done real Christmas trees!

K: Real…a little more messy, but love the smell :)

9. Your top 3 Holiday Traditions?

M: Drinking with friends and family is right up there! Sledding at my parents farm and the Orchard’s somewhat annual Christmas show we do every year between Christmas and New Years.

K:  1. Christmas Eve with the extended family, 2. Watching the Sound of Music with the fireplace going, Xmas tree lit up, and a glass of wine in hand! 3. Playing Kelly Clarkson, Michael Bublé, and Boney M on repeat!

10. Who has the funniest Christmas sweater?

M: The NFL has released some really awful ones this year for each team.. They really crack me up. (Go Giants!)

K: I tried last year and failed…seems like it’s always the people who do it unintentionally! Lol.

11. What is at the top of your Christmas list?

M: A Gibson SG!

K: Same thing that is on probably every musicians list…money! Haha no… I didn’t actually make a list but I really want a new tattoo so that might be a little gift to myself!

12. What goes on top of your tree?

M: A different Santa Claus every year usually.

K: Always an angel.
