John Strait, father of country legend George Strait passed away Tuesday at age 91.
“We are grateful for the time over the last few weeks we were able to spend with Daddy before he passed away,” George said. “I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time as we mourn our family’s loss.”
John was a retired teacher who still lived in Pearsall, Texas but had been in hospital for the last month. His cause of death has not been reported. George was absent from Wednesday’s CMT Awards due to his father’s passing.
