Dan Di Giacomo

Our Hearts Are Broken

Daniel Di Giacomo of River Town Saints Passes Away

Yesterday, Daniel Di Giacomo, the bass player of River Town Saints, passed away unexpectedly. All of us at Top Country were fortunate enough to call Dan a friend. It breaks our hearts to write this post.

Dan was full of life. Whenever he was around, you could expect to be entertained. From his witty jokes to impressive raps, Dan brought joy to all of those around him.

River Town Saints spoke to their heartbreak yesterday on social media. They wrote, “Heaven gained the world’s funniest bass player today.”

Heaven gained the world’s funniest bass player today. As some of you may have already heard, Dan passed away last night unexpectedly. We’re all in shock, and trying to figure out the next steps as we go. Many of you have reached out with kind words and prayers and we can’t tell you how much this means to his family, and us – his band family. Anyone who had ever met Dan for more than 2 seconds knew that he was the funniest, wittiest and most genuine dude on earth. A heart of gold, wicked sense of humour, and killer hip-hop cred. To say we will miss him is beyond an understatement. Obviously we ask for privacy for Dan’s family at this time. We’ve created a GoFundMe campaign to help Dan’s family with funeral costs – link in the bio. We’ll see you again brother – until then, keep holding down the low end up there. Love RTS.

To help Dan’s family with funeral costs, the guys of River Town Saints started a GoFundMe campaign. As of this morning, they are almost half-way to their goal of $15k. If you’d like to support this cause, in memory of Daniel, go to GoFundMe.com.

For those who would like to attend the funeral, the viewing will take place at 10am & celebration service at 11am at Woodvale Pentecostal Church in Ottawa, Ontario on February 25. For those who cannot attend, a live stream will be available at live.woodvale.ca

We are so thankful for the time we spent with Dan. He brought us joy, laughter and friendship. He will be greatly missed. We celebrate the life of this incredible, talented, hilarious and kind soul with just a few of our favourite memories of Dan in the video below.

Rest in peace, Daniel. Our hearts are with River Town Saints and Dan’s family.
