Jason Blaine Dishes His Top Country Favourites; Who Is His Country Crush?

Canadian (Nashville-based) country artist Jason Blaine had a great go at the 4th Annual Country Music Association of Ontario Awards last week (5/31), taking home 3 awards. We got to catch up with him to find out all of his favourite things!

Favourite thing about Ontario?

It’s got everything. Ontario has large world-class cities, provincial parks, lakes, rivers, farmland, little towns and so many places to play country music. It also has some of the best country music fans in the world.

Favourite city?

I’d have to say Ottawa. It’s our nations capitol and the closest major city to my hometown of Pembroke. It’s got such a rich history and I remember taking my first trips there with my parents as a kid and just being in awe. Can I pick two? I’ve lived here in Nashville for 10 years now and it also feels like home to me. It’s got everything I love from music, to food, to sports, to parks and lakes; it’s really a great city.

Favourite date night?

Last Tuesday.

Favourite smell?

I love the smell of cigars and pipes.

Favourite food?

I love great Mexican food.

Favourite emoji?

Thumbs Up. I love it. I use it too much.

Favourite piece of advice?

You become the average of your 10 closest friends, so choose carefully the company you keep.

Favourite on stage moment?

Boots & Hearts Music Festival in 2013. I was on stage singing “They Don’t Make ‘Em Like That Anymore” and some 20,000+ fans took over singing for me. It was a total full circle moment from being that 13 year old kid at a Garth Brooks concert and finally getting to experience my own little Garth moment.

Favourite place to perform?

Summer outdoor festivals. Everyone is totally there to have a good time and the energy is always amazing. I especially like the late shows when the moon is as bright at the stage lights.

Country Favourite (crush)?

Miranda. And Keith…..:)

Favourite car?

1969 Chevelle SS, blue with white racing strips.

Favourite summer time moment?

Around a campfire on a beach with friends.

Favourite thing about being a musician?

Bringing music to life on stage with other musicians and the feeling of locking into a great vibe together when the whole crowd is into it. It’s the best, almost spiritual.
