Lindi Ortega is back with new music. A 4 song EP, ‘Till The Goin’ Gets Gone‘. We had a chance to sit down with Lindi to catch up and talk a bit about her career and new music.

TC: You’ve been away from the scene for a couple years. How close did you come to walking away?

Lindi: I thought I was done. Having been in music since I was 16 and didn’t seem to be getting anywhere. When you make a carton of eggs 3 meals a day for a week, it’s time for self-re-evaluation. So I parted ways with my team, sat and thought, am I really done?

But over a bottle of wine, I sat down at the piano, and that’s where “Final Bow” came from, and thought well maybe we have something here.

Along with “Final Bow,” “What’s A Girl Gotta Do,” the Townes Van Zant classic “Waiting Around To Die,” and the title track, Ortega found a new found inspiration and desire to record these songs.

I went into this project with the freedom to pretty much do what we want, and if nothing else it motivated me to do something special, Ortega explains. We recorded this project in an old mansion and had a vocal booth. We set up mics in different formations but just didn’t like how it sounded. So we went out for tacos and when we got back, still didn’t like it. I had to use the bathroom, and started singing and loved the acoustics. We set up mics in there and, yep, sang the vocals on the toilet, just loved the natural reverb and the fact nobody told us not to do it that way. If there is one, wait, many things I loved about this project was the fact I made music the way I wanted to.
