Key to looking good on the May Two-Four weekend

By: Adria DeLaune

Leave the suit and tie behind!  Banish the button-down and kick off the heels!  The May Two-Four long weekend is fast approaching and it’s time to start prepping!  It’s the first long weekend since Easter, so whether you’re heading to the cottage, taking a much-needed vacation, going camping, or just hanging around the house, do it in style on Victoria Day!

Ladies, nothing looks (or feels) better as the heat of summer approaches than a lightweight shirt (Essential Seersucker Shirt, $39.95 USD plus free shipping to Canada, llbean.com).  Pack two…just in case the barbecue sauce wants in on the fun.

Throw on some classic Bermuda-style shorts (Classic short, $16, in Joe Fresh stores) and a pair of canvas sneakers and you are ready for anything from a game of horseshoes to  a late night bonfire.

Alternatively, a sundress (Colour Block Dress, $39, in Joe Fresh stores) (right) or a shirt in a fun summery color (Every Yogi Tee, $48, lululemon.com) (below) paired with a skirt is a great look for hanging out with friends or date night!

Gents, we didn’t leave you out!  What better time to start letting your lower legs have some fun by wearing some comfortable shorts? If you lean more towards the conservative side when it comes to clothing, stick with a solid color short (Freestyle Short in khaki, $78, lululmon.com).

For the adventurous bunch, plaid is the way to go!  (Summer Madras Plaid Weekend Shorts, $44.95 USD plus free shipping to Canada, llbean.com).  Real men wear plaid!

Throw on your favorite t-shirt (EMS Men’s Precious Time T-shirt, $25 USD, ems.com), grab your barbecue tools and your apron, fire up the grill, and crank up your favorite country tunes.  Oh yea, and we’re pretty sure you won’t forget the beer, it is May Two Four after all!
