Taylor Swift to be honoured at the CCMA Awards

The CCMA announced this morning that Taylor Swift will be in attendance at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards in Saskatoon on September 9th. Swift will be the recipient of the Generation Award. The CCMA Generation Award commemorates those few select internationally celebrated artists who push country music forward introducing this genre of music to a new audience.

The Chair of the CCMA Board, Ted Ellis, said in a press release this morning, “With her increased and continual success on the international scene, Taylor Swift embodies every aspect of the CCMA Generation Award. Since 2010, she has not only become the biggest selling country artist in Canada, she is also one of the top selling artists in the world, across all genres. Taylor has already been recognized with over 100 prestigious international industry honours (including three previous CCMA awards for Top Selling Album) and she maintains a connection with her 200 million fans online daily. We look forward to this presentation during the 2012 CCMA Awards broadcast.”

Taylor is currently celebrating the success of her latest single, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ and will release her highly anticipated album, Red, on October 22.

The 2012 CCMA Awards will air live in Canada on Sunday September 9th at 8 PM ET on CBC, with encore airings on CMT Canada starting at 10PM ET.
