Toby Keith says no to ‘Idol’

‘Should’ve Been a Cowboy’ singer Toby Keith has turned down a shot at becoming the newest addition to the American Idol team.

Since the departure of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and international sensation Jennifer Lopez, producers of Idol have been scrambling to add some new faces to the judging panel. Last week, R&B powerhouse Mariah Carey was chosen to fill one spot but it’s unknown at this time who will fill the other pair of shoes.

Rumors have been swirling that country superstar Brad Paisley may be in talks with Idol producers but there have been no confirmations from either side.

It makes sense that Idol is trying to add some twang to their panel as they have been the career starting platforms for country musicians such as Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Kellie Pickler, Josh Gracin, Casey James, and Bucky Covington to name a few.

Even though Toby isn’t going to be an Idol judge, he is still keeping busy as he is currently working on his 16th studio album and is touring non-stop. Toby headlines the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose, AB this Saturday night.
