Happy Wednesday! Here’s a Wednesday Wayback Playback for you to enjoy!

This week’s Wayback Playback is Hank Snow performing his hit “I’ve Been Everywhere” at the Grand Ole Opry on August 7, 1965.

“I’ve Been Everywhere” was written by Australian country singer Geoff Mack in 1959 and was later adapted by Hank Snow with North American toponyms. Hank Snow was offered the song by Geoff Mack’s music publisher in 1962 and Snow thought that the song had potential for the Canadian and American markets but only if the toponyms were adapted to North America. So at his publisher’s urging Geoff re-wrote the song using a North American atlas supplied to him by the publisher.
