FIRST AWARDS OF 2012 HANDED OUT FROM THE CANADIAN COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION

The Canadian Country Music Association celebrated the first of four of its 2012 CCMA Awards ceremonies being held this week at Saskatoon’s TCU Place’s Grand Hall.

The Industry Brunch and Awards was a morning of great presentations and outstanding musical performances. Kicking off the event were hosts Kortney and Dave Wilson with performances by Victoria Banks, Kira Isabella, Ryan Laird & Leah Daniels, Codie Prevost and High Valley.

The Industry Brunch and Awards recognizes some of Canada’s most deserving industry professionals in the areas of radio, retailer, album design, video director and record producer among other achievements. This year’s winners included Dean Brody, Gord Bamford, iTunes, RGK Entertainment Group Inc. and The Agency Group among many more.

Eleven more awards plus special achievement presentations will be announced at tomorrow night’s Gala Dinner, while the 2012 All Star Band Awards will see seven musicians celebrated for their talents. Another nine awards will be handed out live on Sunday night’s broadcast of the 2012 Canadian Country Music Association Awards.

2012 CCMA AWARDS ‘JOHN DEERE GREEN CARPET’ ARRIVALS TO BE STREAMED ONLINE AS PART OF AWARDS COVERAGE ON CBC LIVE

The 2012 CCMA Awards will take place Sunday, September 9 at Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon, SK. CBC will air the ceremony at 8 pm/ET, with an encore showing at 10 pm/ET.

In addition to the broadcast coverage of the 2012 CCMA AWARDS on CBC Television, CBC LIVE’s coverage of the ‘John Deere Green Carpet’, will capture the glamour of the celebrity arrivals live online, along with special backstage exclusives during the awards gala on Sunday, September 9. The 2012 CCMA AWARDS will air on Sunday, September 9th at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC, with an encore airing on CMT at 10 p.m. ET.

Prior to the televised coverage, cbc.ca/live will bring viewers all of the excitement from the 2012 CCMA AWARDS ‘John Deere Green Carpet’, live as it happens. CBC News’ Arts Reporter, Deanna Sumanac and CBC Radio 2 Morning host Tom Power, will host the 2012 CCMA AWARDS ‘John Deere Green Carpet’ livestream for CBC LIVE, from 3:00 to 4:15 p.m. CT (5:00 to 6:15 p.m. ET), sharing an exclusive look at the arrivals, red carpet fashion and pre-gala emotions. Fans can join in the conversation on Twitter via @CBCLive using the hashtag #countrynightincanada. Then, beginning at 5 p.m. CT (7 p.m. ET), audiences will receive special backstage access featuring exclusive interviews with 2012 CCMA AWARDS presenters, nominees and winners, also hosted by Deanna Sumanac and Tom Power.

Musical artists set to perform at the 2012 CCMA AWARDS, include Gord Bamford, Jason Blaine, Paul Brandt, Dean Brody, Chad Brownlee, George Canyon, Terri Clark, Doc Walker, Emerson Drive, Kira Isabella, Deric Ruttan, Johnny Reid, Dallas Smith, The Stellas, High Valley, Jason Aldean, Pistol Annies, Eric Church and Miranda Lambert. As previously announced, Taylor Swift will be this year’s recipient of the CCMA Generation Award. The CCMA Generation Award will be presented to Taylor Swift by legendary singer-songwriter, Bryan Adams, in a special video presentation. Additionally, Allan Hawco of CBC’s Republic of Doyle, singer Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea, CMT’s Paul McGuire, Canadian country and folk artist Jimmy Rankin, NHL great Theo Fleury, Amber Marshall and Graham Wardle of CBC’s Heartland, NHL stars Luke and Brayden Schenn of the Philadelphia Flyers, and Daryn Jones of CBC’s Over the Rainbow will present at the Awards. Also sharing presenting honours Canadian country music artists Michelle Wright, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Tenille, Johnny Burke, Beverley Mahood, Hey Romeo, Corb Lund, Deric Ruttan, Aaron Pritchett, Jimmy Rankin, Victoria Banks, Ryan Laird, Codie Prevost and Small Town Pistols.

Ticket holders are encouraged to come out to the Credit Union Centre early to secure a spot in the Green Carpet Fan Zone and greet the 2012 Canadian Country Music Association Awards performers, presenters and nominees as they arrive on the green carpet, which will kick-off at 3 p.m. CT.

August 29, 2012 – The stars will be shining brightly at the 2012 Canadian Country Music Association Awards, as a scintillating roster of celebrity presenters is set to join Canada’s favourite country musicians for a night of great music and great fun in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Joining the talented list of presenters is Lana Gay (host of CBC Radio 3’s, Lanarama), who will act as the voice of the show. The 2012 CCMA Awards will air on Sunday, September 9th at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC, with encore airings on CMT at 10 p.m. EST.

Confirmed to join the festivities this year are Allan Hawco of CBC’s Republic of Doyle, singer Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea, NHL great Theo Fleury, CMT’s Paul McGuire, Amber Marshall and Graham Wardle of CBC’s Heartland, NHL stars Luke and Brayden Schenn of the Philadelphia Flyers, and Daryn Jones of CBC’s Over the Rainbow, They will share presenting honours with Canadian country music artists Victoria Banks, Johnny Burke, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Ryan Laird, Corb Lund, Beverley Mahood, Small Town Pistols, Codie Prevost, Aaron Pritchett, Jimmy Rankin, Hey Romeo, Deric Ruttan, Tenille and Michelle Wright.

Toronto, ON (August 7, 2012) – As country music fans anxiously await the arrival of #countrynightincanada, the Canadian Country Music Association is delighted to announce another group of show-stopping performers. Rounding out the incredibly strong group of performers who will light up the stage at the 2012 CCMA Awards in Saskatoon are Jason Blaine, Doc Walker, Emerson Drive, Kira Isabella, Dallas Smith, and The Stellas, all of whom will perform on Canada’s biggest country music stage, the Canadian Country Music Association Awards, broadcast live on Sunday September 9th at 8 p.m. ET on CBC, with encore airings on CMT (Canada) starting at 10 p.m. ET.

“The CCMA is truly proud of the talented group of performers that we’ve been able to secure for this year’s broadcast,” said Don Green, Executive Director CCMA. “In celebration of our 30th anniversary, we are constructing a show that promises non-stop music and special moments from start to finish as we continue to celebrate and honour those Canadian country artists who work tirelessly to promote this genre of music each and every day of the year.”

Well-known country music artist and four-time nominee Jason Blaine will take to the stage to perform one of his hottest singles, while newcomers Kira Isabella and Dallas Smith will both showcase their talent as they perform on the CCMA Awards stage for the first time and will also contend against one another for the Rising Star Award. Receiving three nominations, The Stellas will also have the opportunity to perform one of their hits on the CCMA Awards stage. No strangers to the CCMA Awards stage, Doc Walker and Emerson Drive will vie for the CCMA Group or Duo of the Year Award and will also join forces onstage for a collaborative performance that country music fans won’t want to miss!

As if the CCMA Awards could get any hotter – Jason Blaine, Doc Walker, Emerson Drive, Kira Isabella, Dallas Smith* and *The Stellas will join previously announced performers, Gord Bamford, Paul Brandt, Dean Brody , Chad Brownlee, George Canyon,Terri Clark, High Valley, Deric Ruttan, Johnny Reid, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert and

CCMA FanFest Performance Poll Contenders and Contest Opening Announced!

The CCMA is proud to announce the contenders of the CCMA FanFest Performance Poll Contest – Congratulations goes out to Mark Cameron, Marshall Dane, The Divorcees, Kylee Epp, Georges Hamel, Tonya Kennedy, Jason Kirkness, Johnny Oliver Band, PEAR, and Wyatt! These ten contenders will be moving on to the CCMA FanFest Performance Poll Contest where one lucky contender who ranks the highest on the poll will be rewarded with the opportunity to perform with Canada’s country elite.

CCMA FanFest will entertain fans with an afternoon of fantastic music. Taking place on Saturday, September 8 from 11 AM to 4 PM at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, SK, as part of PotashCorp Country Music Week, CCMA FanFest is the perfect opportunity to enjoy performances from the best artists that country music has to offer, with opportunities to get up close and personal at a public autograph signing and best of all, it’s free of charge.
