Last night the biggest stars of country music hit the red carpet for the 49th Annual ACM Awards. While some stars hit the high mark with their red carpet looks, others took some serious missteps. BEST DRESSED
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift again brought out one of her favourite designers, J. Mendel. The design is a little more mature and skin-bearing than we’re used to seeing Taylor in – and I love it. Kids, they grow up so fast.
Miranda Lambert
Another one of my favourite looks of the night was Miranda Lambert. Showing off her new svelte figure and some serious cleavage the Female Vocalist of the Year, Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year winner looked absolutely stunning in a golden crystal-adorned gown by Randi Rahm.
Kellie Pickler
Kellie Pickler looked flawless in a lavender ombre chiffon Romona Keveza gown. Kellie’s hair helped pull the soft and pretty look together.
Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood rocked a silver fringe Oscar de la Renta dress at last night’s awards. The pictures of the dress don’t really do it justice – seeing it on the actual award show last night made me love it even more. This is a dress that looks better with movement. (As a side note, I was really hoping Carrie would win Female Vocalist of the Year as she has one of the best voices in any genre of music – but there’s always next year, I guess.)
The Band Perry
I love Vocal Group of the Year winners The Band Perry for their constant edgy looks on the red carpet. Kimberly Perry’s Georges Hobeika black and nude sheer dress hugged her body in all the right places while Reid and Neil looked handsome in their grey suits.
Cassadee Pope
Cassadee Pope has finally ended up on my best dressed list. Cassadee looked stunning and mature in a red chiffon sheer number that showed off her toned body in all the right places.
Hunter Hayes
Hunter Hayes showed up looking like quite the young gentleman! I typically don’t love light-coloured suits but with Hunter’s hair and skin tone, this won me over. Props to him for wearing some dress shoes to the event. He looks handsome, classy and well put together.
Dierks Bentley
Dierks Bentley kept it casual and cool in jeans, a leather jacket, hiking boots and t-shirt. This is just Dierks and I consistently dig his style, I wouldn’t ever expect him to show up in a red suit (see Jake Owen below!) and I’m okay with that.
WORST DRESSED
Martina McBride
Martina McBride…here’s the thing, you may not be the youngest singer in the genre but you’ve got an amazing body and you’ve still got one of the best voice’s in country music. Start dressing like the star you are! This look is not flattering on the singer and is aging her way beyond her years.
Frankie Ballard
Frankie Ballard stepped out in this helluva (get it?) Manuel suit. Yeah. Not sure what else to say here. His hair looks good…?
Jamie Lynn Spears
This look is just a terrible look. Jamie Lynn Spears attended her first big country red carpet event in a dress that looks like it was meant for the nightclub. It is way too casual for the event, the heels don’t even work with the dress and the extensions aren’t doing her any favours. Better luck next time JLS!
Kacey Musgraves
This seriously hurts me to say, as you all know I’m a huge fan of Kacey Musgraves – but her look last night missed the mark. Kacey wore a pale blue Miu Miu gown on the red carpet that just looked, well, boring. The bodice with it’s roching is a little bridal and the white belt almost cheapens the entire look.
Jake Owen
Jake Owen had to leave the awards early to take care of his sick wife – but maybe it was his fashion choice that sent him running out the door. Usually I enjoy Jake’s take on red carpet fashion as he does take risks – but this is just a complete miss.
Brantley Gilbert
Look, I understand it’s part of Brantley Gilbert’s style to wear as much jewelery as possible and to always look like he’s just too cool for school. However, he’s at an awards show and posing on the red carpet – his hat is eating half of his face. You can’t even see his eyebrows! If you’re going to wear a hat, it’s got to fit properly.
