Dayna Reid Is Back With a New Sound on “Untamed Heart”

With her first release of 2026, the Canadian country singer-songwriter is stepping into a new chapter with a little more freedom, grit and an “Untamed Heart.”

Dayna Reid is back, and this time, she’s doing things on her own terms.

The Elmvale, Ontario country singer-songwriter returned with new music on October 16, releasing “Untamed Heart,” a free-spirited anthem about letting go of expectations and embracing whatever comes next.

The single marks Reid’s first release of 2026 and arrives during an exciting new chapter in her life after getting married this fall. Following a year that brought plenty of personal growth and change, “Untamed Heart” feels like a fitting reintroduction.

Dayna Reid Returns With “Untamed Heart”

Built around Reid’s powerhouse vocals, rootsy country instrumentation and touches of harmonica, “Untamed Heart” pairs a vintage country spirit with the modern edge that has become part of her sound. But at the heart of the song is something even more personal: the freedom that comes with realizing you don’t need to have everything figured out.

“Honestly, I just had enough of trying to seem like I had myself perfectly put together and trying to fit into societal norms,” Reid says of the song.

“Untamed Heart” is about stepping outside those expectations, opening yourself up to new experiences and choosing to live life on your own terms. Returning with new music after a period of new beginnings, that message feels especially fitting.

A New Chapter for Dayna Reid

Reid first introduced herself to Canadian country fans with her debut EP, Back To The Trailer, which included “She’s Me,” her first Top 40 single at Canadian country radio. “She’s Me” also earned Reid recognition as an iHeartRadio Future Star and Stingray Radio Trending Track, helping establish her as one of the new voices to watch in Canadian country.

She followed with her debut album, She’s Me, in 2024, and continued releasing music in 2025 with standalone singles “Better Than Blue” and “I Believe in You.” Along the way, Reid has been a SiriusXM Top of the Country semifinalist, earned multiple CMAOntario Award nominations and performed at major Canadian festivals including Boots and Hearts, the Calgary Stampede and Cavendish Beach Music Festival.

She’s also opened for Canadian country favourites including Tim Hicks and Hunter Brothers.

Who Is Dayna Reid?

Reid grew up in the small town of Elmvale, Ontario, where she began turning the stories and experiences around her into songs. That small-town upbringing has remained an important part of her music. From the ambition behind “She’s Me” to the deeply personal storytelling throughout her catalogue, Reid has built her music around songs that feel rooted in her own experiences.

But “Untamed Heart” shows another side of her.

There’s still plenty of vulnerability, but this time it comes with a little more rebellion. The song feels less concerned with having all the answers and more interested in what can happen when you stop trying to.

Dayna Reid Is Back

After a transformative year of personal milestones, “Untamed Heart” feels like the beginning of something new for Dayna Reid. It’s confident without losing the vulnerability that has always been part of her songwriting, and its rootsier sound offers a glimpse at where she may be headed next. Most importantly, it sounds like an artist giving herself permission to evolve.

If “Untamed Heart” is the beginning of Dayna Reid’s next chapter, we’re ready to hear what comes next.
