Poor John Mayer. The pop and blues musician is all whiny and crying about one of Taylor Swift’s songs.
He says he was “really humiliated” by the song ‘Dear John’ – a song Taylor reportedly wrote about their romance and said it was a “lousy” thing for her to do. Twenty-two year old Taylor was briefly linked with Mayer (34) in 2009, but at the time both denied the romance.
However, now Mayer has said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that the song has made him “feel terrible” and accuses Taylor of “cheap songwriting.”
The girl in the dress
Cried the whole way home, I should’ve known.
Dear John, I see it all now it was wrong
Don’t you think nineteen’s too young
To be played by your dark, twisted games
When I loved you so, I should’ve known.
He told Rolling Stone magazine, “It made me feel terrible. Because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”
“I will say as a songwriter that I think it’s kind of cheap songwriting. I know she’s the biggest thing in the world, and I’m not trying to sink anybody’s ship, but I think it’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ’Wait till he gets a load of this!’ That’s bulls**t.”
Seriously, Mayer? How about growing a set? And jeez dude, you know how songwriting works… stuff happens to you and then you write about it. I’m sure you explained that to the chick you wrote “Your Body Is A Wonderland” about.. And isn’t Mayer the guy who gave an interview to Playboy detailing former girlfriend Jessica Simpson’s bedroom skills and took pot shots at his other ex, Jennifer Aniston? Uh huh, I thought so. So Mayer thinks it’s okay for him to shoot his mouth off but when the shoe’s on the other foot ….
Besides .. it came out two years ago!! And Mayer’s just feeling bad about it NOW? What a jackwagon. I’m sure it has nothing to do with publicity for HIS new album.
Suck it up, Mayer. Or stop dating songwriters.
