Corb Lund recently released his new album, Cabin Fever. He caught up with TC to dish on some of his recent shows, the new album, and other fun stuff.
Q
What makes this record different from the others you’ve released in the past?
A
We were drunker when we recorded it. And we did a full 2nd acoustic verision of all the songs. And no click tracks, and hardly any overdubs, and we did it in Canada at our friend’s studio.
Q
You recently did a string of shows with Ian Tyson at the Calgary Stampede, tell us about how that came about and fan reaction during the 100th Stampede.
A
It was fantastic, a big thrill for me. I had interviewed him live onstage during his book launch and wished we had guitars the whole two hours we were sitting there. I sold him on the idea of some acoustic shows where there would be no band, and we’d just talk back and forth a lot, and play on each others’ songs. It went over like gangbusters, but i was worried the night before the opening. If it nose dived, I didn’t want Ian mad at me…
Q
What’s your favourite track on the new album?
A
‘Gettin’ Down on the Mountain’
Q
Corb Lund’s Top 5 (of his own songs)
A
The Truth Comes Out
Priceless Antique Pistol Shoots Startled Owner
Apocalyptic Modified Blues
Horse Doctor, Come Quick
Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier
