Rumours swirled for days, now multiple sources are confirming that Keith Urban will in fact sit on the panel of judges for the upcoming season of American Idol. It is reported that Urban will be making a salary somewhere around $3-4 million for the season.
It’s no secret that the Idol family wanted someone from the country world to fill a seat on the panel. Previous reports have told us that both Toby Keith and Brad Paisley have turned down offers. So just who will join Urban on the panel, its reported that pop star Mariah Carey has also signed on, as well they are trying to reach a deal with rapper Nicki Minaj. Rumours are also reporting that Randy Jackson won’t be returning this year as a judge, but will remain with the show in some capacity. Sources are reporting his seat could be filled by Enrique Iglasias.
This will give Idol the variety of musical genres that has been lacking. The rumour mill, I’m sure, will continue to swirl until the show premieres on FOX in January.
