Amy Metcalfe Q&A and CD Giveaway

Amy Metcalfe’s debut album, “Inside Out” was released yesterday, April 27, 2015. Read our Q&A with her below to learn more about “Inside Out” AND enter to win a copy of it!

TC: Tell us a bit about your debut album “Inside Out”.

AM: Well, I would say it is a reflection on a very questioning period in my life. The uncertainty of sharing raw emotions, having your insides… on the outside for the first time.

TC: What was the process of creating it like?

AM: It was really cool, Russell Broom, my producer of the project, allowed me to have a lot of input and we really scattered it around. We recorded some in Toronto and some in Calgary with players from well, everywhere. Including a back up vocalist I met on YouTube from the UK. You can hear him on Fairyfail.

TC: What made you decide to title it “Inside Out”?

AM: I accidentally answered this in the first question hah, but to further explain it is all about the vulnerability of putting out a project that has all songs written from personal experience especially for the first time.

TC: Is there a song on the album you are particularly proud of and why?

AM: There are a couple actually, but I would have to say track 2 “Bitter at the Rain”, because of its story. It is written about two young boys who fell victim to a drunk driver a couple of years ago on my highway. I really feel as though it’s not my song, it’s theirs’. And that makes me proud!

TC:What else have you got coming up this summer that fans can look forward to?

AM: Lots!! Haha. Some highlights, Big Valley Jamboree, Chengdu China, Ponoka Stampede and I’m returning to my hometown of 2,800 people to perform at North Americas longest running Fair in Carman, Manitoba! All are very different kind of gigs and I’m super excited about them all :)
