Breaking News: Murray Pulver leaves the road

Important announcement from guitarist/co-writer, Murray Pulver and Doc Walker

“After nearly 10 years of playing live with Doc Walker, I have made the very difficult decision to stop touring with the band. I’ve had the opportunity to share the stage with people whom I consider to be great songwriters, great musicians, and above all ,great friends. Along the way, I’ve come to meet so many fantastic people involved in our career. Be it industry folk, management, musicians, video directors, radio personalities, members of the media, and most importantly, the fans…you have all made a huge impression on me, made this an incredible ride and for that I say a giant thank you!!

I look forward to the next phase in my career. I look forward to our continuing relationship and creating more music with Doc Walker. Also, none of this would have been possible without the generous love and support of my family. My wife Josephine and my children, Katie and Karl have made great sacrifices, but have always been my biggest fans and for that I am very grateful! Take care everyone and I wish you well! “

– Love, Murray

Murray will continue to write and record with the band, however he will perform his last show November 14th as part of a 20th anniversary concert for the Houston’s Country Roadhouse in Brandon, Manitoba.

Murray became a full time touring member after the release of 2003’s “Everyone Aboard” and was heavily featured as a co-writer on 2008’s “Beautiful Life”, the band that year went on to sweep the CCMA Awards show including Fan’s Choice, Album and Group of the year. Murray has been awarded CCMA Guitar player of the year three times 2008 to 2010.

“Over the last ten years Doc Walker has played countless shows. Each show different from the last. But one thing that never changed was how proud I was to share the stage each night with Murray Pulver. His professionalism was contagious. His “perma-smile” was always genuine. He was a favourite of management, agents, buyers, promoters, crew, bandmates, and of course, the fans. The news of his departure is truly devastating to all of us, only softened by the promise of continuing our working relationship, and the unshakable strength of our friendship. It is very reassuring to know that we haven’t seen the last of Murray Pulver” : )

” I’ve known Murray since I started playing music and cannot think of a better role model to have in a small town like Portage La Prairie. Starting with guitar lessons when I was 14 to having him play on the first two Doc Walker records to him joining the band officially, it’s been an unbelievable ride. Over the life of Doc Walker we’ve had the privilege of playing with many talented musicians but through the good times and the bad Murray always seemed to be there to lift us up. Knowing this relationship can continue on a different level seems to give me a sense of confidence that only Murray could inspire to weather any storm. Truly one of the best friends I have.”
