Carrie and Sunday Night Football?

NBC is sticking with their formula country music star for its intro. Earlier this year, Faith Hill announced she would be stepping down from singing the theme for Sunday Night Football. Now, NBC announced that Carrie Underwood will be taking over singing a new version of ‘Waiting All Day for Sunday Night’.

It’s no secret that Carrie loves sports. She married Canadian hockey player Mike Fisher, now a Nashville Predator in 2010. Carrie told FOX News, “For me, it just always seemed like something that would be fun to do. To watch Faith do it week after week, to see that hype for the game, it’s something that’s so cool.”

She added about her hubby, “He’s a sports dude, Yeah, he plays hockey, but he definitely loves football, as do I.”

Her first performance will take place on Sunday September  8, when the New York Giants visit the Dallas Cowboys. Sunday Night Football, which averaged 21.8 million viewers last season, is TV’s top-rated prime-time show.

Carrie also just released the fourth single, ‘See You Again’ from her smash album Blown Away and is on her highly successful tour of the same name.
