Kudos to KIX106 in Kitchener who put on a great “eat and greet” event today to promote Dean Brody’s album Dirt which will be released tomorrow.
About fifty winners were invited to listen to some new tunes, grab some lunch and submit questions for Dean to answer. Among the questions from the crowd were whether his song ‘Wildflower’ is about his wife, Iris Rose… to which Dean replied “yes”… and when the crowd let out a collective “Awwwww!”, KIX morning personality Bill Hart responded “thanks man, you make the rest of us guys look bad.”
Something learned about Dean – some of his musical influences were heavy metal bands! He had a garage band called Roadrunner as a teen and he was all about AC/DC, Metallica, and Guns n Roses (thankfully his later influences were Dwight Yoakam and George Strait).
Dean also presented KIX106 with a framed copy of ‘Canadian Girls’ to thank them for helping it hit #1 on the charts (the last Canadian to hit #1 was Terri Clark in 2008).
The crowd LOVED his new material and all lined up for pics, CDs and signing. Fun event – would have liked to hear some more new material, but I guess that’s what the CD is for….
Congrats on the new release Dean – been looking forward to it!. I’ll be blasting it in the car with the windows down!
Are you picking up Dean’s new CD? Which releases are you looking forward to this summer?
