Top Country got a chance to chat with Jordan McIntosh about his upcoming opening slot on the Young Guns Tour with One More Girl and Brett Kissel (kicking off tomorrow in Saskatoon) as well as the huge popularity of his countrified cover of Lil Wayne’s “How To Love”.
So you’re going to be kicking off the Young Guns Tour with One More Girl and Brett Kissel as a special guest, what are you most looking forward to about it?
A
The part I’m most excited about is getting to see my fans in cities I’ve never visited before. It will be nice to fulfill the dreams of the fans that tweet you wishing you’d come to their city, and now that I am I can’t wait to meet them. And also getting the chance to learn from Brett and the girls, I’m new to this world and I know that I can learn so much from them about this crazy industry.

What can fans look forward to seeing during your performances on the tour?
A
I want them to have fun. One of the songs I’ll be performing is one of the most well-known country songs to date. I can’t wait to look out into the audience and see everybody singing along and having a good time. I’m also excited to introduce them to some of my new music that will be out later this year.

Speaking of One More Girl, you actually worked with Britt & Carly McKillip recently on the CMT holiday film Home for Christmas, can you tell us a bit about your experience working on the movie?
A
It was one of the best experiences of my career so far. That was my first movie and the girls are pros when it comes to acting. On set was actually the first time I met them and since then they’ve been awesome to me. I loved hanging out with them and learning so much about the acting world. I can’t wait to get out on tour and get to know them on a musical level.

Your country cover of Lil Wayne’s “How To Love” has become a bit of a YouTube sensation having been watched over 200,000 times! Did you expect that it would become so popular?
A
I couldn’t believe how much attention it got, it honestly shocked me. The cover always got such a huge reaction at shows so filming a YouTube video of it was a no-brainer. The song is a few years old so I was afraid that people wouldn’t be searching for it but I was definitely wrong. I’m really blessed that the video got the attention that it did. I’m very proud.

2013 was a pretty crazy year for you, what are you hoping for in 2014?
A
I’m hoping for an even crazier year than the last. My single, “Grew Up in a Country Song” has been doing so well, and I’m so thankful for that. Kicking things off with the Young Guns Tour is going to be a great start to the year. I’ll have a new single in the spring as well as my album getting released close to summer. I’m hoping to make new fans, release great music, and have one hell of a year!
