LeAnn Rimes announced yesterday that her new album Spitfire will hit iTunes and retail on Tuesday June 4th. Rimes co-wrote 9 songs on the 14 track album, and calls it her most honest project ever.

“This album is a peek into my world; who I am, what I’ve gone through, what my emotions are. It’s an intimate conversation between me and whoever’s listening. I hope I’m saying things that are hard for others to express. It certainly took me a lot of work to get to this point. And it’s still easier to sing these thoughts than it is to say them out loud. The intimacy in my music is just beginning.”

The album also features guest appearances by Alison Krauss, Dan Tyminski, Rob Thomas and Jeff Beck.

The physical CD will launch exclusively at Wal-Mart and is currently available for pre-order at: http://www.walmart.com/ip/24214242.

LeAnn previously released two songs to iTunes from the project. One of them, “Borrowed” touches on the difficult affair she had with her now husband, Eddie Cibrian.
