LeAnn’s Necessary Performance

leannerimesFinally, some good press! Earlier this week, LeAnn Rimes performed an incredible tribute to Patsy Cline at the 2013 ACA Awards (Another Country Awards – just kidding, the American Country Awards)  – and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

Forget all the tabloid drama with husband Eddie Cibrian and his ex-wife Brandi whats-her-name. LeAnn proved why we fell in love with her way back in 1996 – that voice.

In my opinion, here are three things that could get LeAnn back on track in country music:

1) STOP TWEETING – Most of LeAnn’s problems seem to stem from her tweeting. She needs to put the phone down, stop tweeting so much and stop involving herself in drama with online bullies. A great example of how an artist should tweet is Carrie Underwood. She tweets sporadically, stays in touch with fans, posts some fun behind-the-scenes pictures and videos – but knows that life doesn’t revolve around Twitter.

2) FOCUS ON MUSIC –  LeAnn’s latest album, Spitfire received critical acclaim – but again, because of all her tabloid drama, the industry has forgotten what an incredible artist she is. She needs to focus on music. LeAnn’s last big hit was 2005’s ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ which peaked at No.2 on the charts. That was almost a decade ago.

3) TOUR – She may not be the draw she once was – but something that could help LeAnn garner a new fanbase and bring old fans back would be to tour. Of course, she has dates here and there at American casinos and small venue theaters – but LeAnn’s team needs to get her on a big tour. There’s no reason why she shouldn’t be opening for an act like Lady Antebellum. The only reason may be her pride. She may not feel like an opening act – but a headliner. Truth is, she’s not a headlining act anymore. If she plays her cards right – she could be.

Are your ready for LeAnn to make it big in country music again – what else could/should she do? Or are over her antics?
