Tim McGraw

McGraw signs with Big Machine Records

After years of feuding with his longtime label, Curb Records, Tim McGraw has found a new home for his music. It was announced in Nashville on Monday morning from a local Greyhound bus station that he has signed with Big Machine Recordings. Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta told Billboard, “It wasn’t a pre-meditated event. They had come back from vacation, and he called and said ‘This is what I want to do.’ So, Faith and the kids pop out, and everybody is wearing t-shirts and jeans. It was just one of those magical moments. That’s the kind of creativity he’s bringing to us, and that’s the kind of creativity I encourage. He’s got a wild ass of a partner now, so he better be careful what he wishes for, because we’ll just do it.”

It wasn’t McGraw’s first time at that particular Greyhound bus station. He arrived in Nashville almost 23 years prior, almost down to the day. He says he will always remember the day he arrived in Nashville, as it was the day legend Keith Whitley died and he could think of no better place to ink his new deal then to go back to where his Nashville journey began all those years ago.

As Tim looks forward to working with Borchetta and the Big Machine team, he told Billboard, “Scott is one of the best music guys in this business. I’ve watched him for a while. He’s got passion, creativity. He loves music. He loves his artists. He’s the kind of guy I want to be in business with.”

McGraw will join labelmates Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, and Eden’s Edge as a part of the new Big Machine family. We can expect new music in the coming months. Until then, he will be out on the Brothers of the Sun Tour co-headlining tour with Kenny Chesney.
