My Kinda Party Tour: Reviewed

Review by Adria DeLaune

The TopCountry.ca team took to the states on Saturday to check out the sold out My Kinda Party tour stop at the Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana.  Rachel Farley opened the show and revved the crowd up with a number of peppy songs, including a Katy Perry cover.  Next, Luke Bryan took the stage and rocketed through three of his hits before announcing that he was suffering from a cold and showed the crowd his red Solo cup filled with water and declared, “I’m just drinking water, see?”   Halfway through his set, Bryan sat down at a piano on stage and taunted the crowd with the a line from Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” before emphatically announcing, “There will be no Bieber tonight!”  He then launched into “Do I?”  Bryan summed up the piano set with a cover of the Journey classic “Faithfully” and then he cranked out several more songs on guitar before saying goodnight.  The crowd, which had been on its feet for the entire performance, sang along with every word from the first song to the last.

After the intermission, Jason Aldean rocketed onto the stage through a cloud of smoke, He was backed by a top-notch band, including charismatic drummer Rich Redmond.  Set up with three microphones, one on each end and one in the center of the stage, Aldean moved effortlessly from end to end during each song.  He, like Bryan, inserted “Indiana” as a replacement for the states in the original recordings on several of his songs and the crowd went wild.  “Flyover States” required no such change.  As Aldean sang the line, “They’ve never drove through Indiana,” the road of the crowd was so loud that the next 2 lines were difficult to hear.

Aldean’s band played the opening notes of “Don’t You Wanna Stay” and the crowd around us began to chatter about which female singer would be singing the Kelly Clarkson lines.  Their questions were soon answered as Clarkson herself appeared on a large screen behind Aldean’s band.  After he played a few more hit songs, the audience was treated to a preview of several songs on Aldean’s forthcoming album, “Night Train,” including the title track.

If you happen to be in the states, the My Kinda Party Tour is not to be missed.
