Although nothing official has been announced – I think it’s safe to say country music has yet again lost another critically acclaimed, super talented, all-female group. Remember The Wreckers?
Here are five signs that the trio is over – even without an official announcement:
1) Earlier this year The Pistol Annies cancelled all their upcoming tour dates leaving Miranda Lambert to fill in solo.
2) They have not used their Twitter account since September 3rd, 2013 (their sophomore album, Annie Up was released only a few months earlier in May)
3) Only one single (“Hush Hush”) from their sophomore album Annie Up was released to radio. A sign that their own record label stopped promoting the album.
4) Ashley Monroe now has her own critically-acclaimed solo career. Her debut solo album, Like A Rose was named by Billboard as the Top Country Album of the Year and Rolling Stone named it #18 on it’s list of The Best 50 albums of 2013.
5) An insider close the group has said the fallout happened due to Miranda and Angaleena’s husband (who is also Miranda’s tour manager) not getting along. Apparently this caused a rift between the two friends and Miranda had enough.
What is it with female groups in country music? They always seem to leave us too soon…
