Top 10 Moments from the CCMA Awards Show
The 2017 Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA®) Awards Show had Saskatoonians on their feet at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Canadians from coast-to-coast cheering for all their favourite country stars on CBC. In the action-packed two-hour event, eight of the most sought-after CCMA Awards were presented and fourteen exceptional performances blew fans away.

10. The Washboard Union Light Up The Arena with ‘Shine’
Performing on the B stage at the back of an arena can be exciting for those at the back while underwhelming for those close to the main stage. However, The Washboard Union lit up the arena with their performance of ‘Shine’. The room filled with confetti & silver blow-up balls amongst the disco ball lighting.
9. We’ll ‘Be Country’ with Meghan Patrick Any Day
Female Vocalist of the Year, Meghan Patrick, impressed with her authentic and powerful country voice while performing ‘Be Country With Me’.
8. James Barker Band Mix it Up
One moment James Barker Band was performing a laid-back, acoustic, version of ‘Lawn Chair Lazy’ and the next they were commanding the stage with their latest hit, ‘Chills’. We can’t help but draw parallels from their performance to the year they’ve had, growing rapidly as rising country stars.
7. Tim Hicks Performs an Acoustic Version of Forever Rebels

The country-rocker stripped it down for his acoustic performance of ‘Forever Rebels’, his brand new single. The performance showcased his incredible voice and the power of the song itself.
6. Meghan Patrick Wins Female Artist of the Year
Not only did Meghan Patrick win her first CCMA Award this past weekend, she won the coveted Female Artist of the Year, along with Rising Star. Watch her emotional acceptance speech above.
5. Dallas Smith Wins Album of the Year
When Dallas Smith won Album of the Year for ‘Side Effects‘, fans jumped out of their seats to celebrate with the singer.
4. Madeline Merlo Brings Motel Flamingo to Saskatoon

Madeline Merlo performed her Top 10 single ‘Motel Flamingo’ surrounded by pink flamingos on the CCMA Awards Show. Fans danced and sang along like they were partying at Motel Flamingo.
3. Dean Brody Wins Fans’ Choice
There is no greater award to win as an artist who truly values making music for his or her fans. Fans’ Choice winner, Dean Brody, highlighted this feeling during his acceptance speech for Fans’ Choice, immediately followed by a roar of applause from the Saskatoon crowd.
2. Blake Shelton & CCMA Ultimate Fan Scott Sykes
Not sure who we love more, Blake Shelton or the CCMA Ultimate Fan Contest Winner, Scott Sykes. Both presented Dean Brody with the award for Fans’ Choice where Scott joked about trying to not offend Blake by looking better than him. The moment had the crowd filled with laughter.
1. Brett Kissel Gives Away His Guitar
Brett Kissel performed his new song ‘We Were That Song’ which he released to radio immediately following the performance. At the end, he spotted a little boy in the audience and handed him his guitar!
