Dolly Parton Pure & Simple Album and Tour Details
On Monday June 13th the country legend, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and philanthropist Dolly Parton attended a press conference in Yorkville, Toronto to reveal the details of her upcoming album and international tour.
“It’s been 25 years since I’ve really done a tour through Canada,” the singer told reporters. “Really excited about it.”
Performances on the tour include dates in smaller towns such as Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on September 13, 2016.
“I’m kind of like a dollar store, you’ll find one out in the middle of no where but they’re still popular because there’s people that want to see it.” Says Parton. “I love my fans no matter who they are. A lot of rural people won’t go out to the big city, so it’s cool that we can go to them.”
She says the ‘Pure & Simple’ album and tour both come from a sincere place.
“We really broke it down, I don’t have a whole big band on stage, there’s only 4 of us. I don’t have a lot of bells and whistles or overdone production like I’ve done over the years. All that big stuff just don’t fit me… I love telling my stories and singing my songs in a pure and simple way.”
All Canadian dates include:
Aug 4 – Windsor – The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor
Sept 9 – Toronto – Molson Amphitheatre
Sept 13 – Moose Jaw – Mosaic Place
Sept 16 – Calgary – Scotia Bank Saddledome
Sept 17 – Edmonton – Rogers Place
Sept 19 – Vancouver – Rogers Arena
The album ‘Pure & Simple’ is set to release worldwide on August 19th.
“I’m real proud of the album. I still love to write, it’s easy for me because that’s what I do.”
“It’s all love of different colours. True love, then cheatin’ love, romatic love, sexy love. This album is a love of many colours.”
This may be Dolly’s last tour, at least for a long while, as she plans to focus more on television production. Coming off the success of ‘Coat of Many Colours’ production, they’re working on a sequel called ‘Christmas of Many Colours’.
“I wake up with new dreams every day. I hope to never retire because I love my work.”
