TC Interview with Tim Chaisson

Top Country recently got the chance to chat with singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tim Chaisson! Read out interview with him below and watch the music video for “Crushed”, the first single off of his latest album Lost In Light.

TC: You will be embarking on a solo headlining tour shortly, how does that feel?

TIM: Well, after doing a number of opening slots with Colin James and The Stellas across Canada it’ll be great to play longer sets and have my band join me. I love playing solo acoustic with just my guitar, fiddle and feet percussion but having additional guitar, banjo, bass and 3 part harmonies will be great :-)

TC: What can fans expect to experience during your shows?

TIM: On this tour they’ll hear a lot of the songs off of the new record, Lost In Light. I’ll have my cousin, Koady Chaisson (bass, banjo) and my guitar player, Tian Wigmore backing me up. They’re both ridiculous musicians with amazing voices so we’ll try to bring the songs to life. We might play a few east coast fiddle tunes in the set as well, ya never know ;-)

TC: What was it like touring with Colin James and the Stellas?

TIM: It was great! Colin and his band were amazing to watch every night. The musicianship on that stage blew everyone away. He’s a sweet guy too, they all treated me well. I toured on The Stellas bus with them so we got to know each other pretty well. They’re also a good bunch who are just out to play (and listen to) good music and have a time. It was a bit of a party bus! I loved it.

TC: “Lost In Light” went #1 on the iTunes Canadian Country Sales Chart – why do you think this album resonated so strongly with fans?

TIM: I don’t know, hah! I was pretty surprised that it went to #1 the day it came out, quite a shock for sure. I’ve been touring pretty heavily for the last 4 years so I’ve met tons of really generous music fans along the way. I guess I owe it to them!

TC: You’ll be in Toronto on May 21 to play a show at the Great Hall with Matthew Barber, have you played this venue before and what are you most looking forward to about it?

TIM: I played at The Great Hall about two years ago for CMW and I loved it. It’s got a cool vibe and the people that are there are there for the show which makes a big difference. I’m also a big fan of Matt’s so it’ll be a treat to play with him then enjoy his set :-)
