9. Top Country Albums of 2016: Madeline Merlo – Free Soul
There’s no denying 2016 was a great year for Canadian country music darling Madeline Merlo. In September, Merlo was nominated for Female Artist of the Year at the 2016 CCMA Awards. Madeline’s album Free Soul took the singer to new heights with hits like ‘War Paint’, ‘Whatcha Wanna Do About It’ and ‘Honey Jack’.
Her single “War Paint” was the #1 Most Added single on Canadian Country Radio for the week of June 29th. “Whatcha Wanna Do About It” made CMT’s Top 20 Country Music Chart, and Sirius XM’s #OnTheHorizon List. “Honey Jack” also received widespread airplay and attracted both country-and pop-music lovers alike.
