What is your favourite songwriting experience so far?
I was having trouble for a couple weeks with songwriting. I was feeling uninspired and everything I wrote was absolute trash. I remember I was driving home from school I came up with this title for a song. I then immediately went home into my bedroom and whipped up an entire song in 45 minutes. It was the best feeling in the world and it is one of my favourite songs to this day.
Which CCMA Nominated artists would you love to write with?
I would love to write with High Valley. The lyrics to their songs have a similar tone to my style of writing and it just clicks with me.
Which artists (from anywhere) do you look up to the most?
There are so many artist that influence me in different ways. One artist that really gets me would have to be the legendary Loretta Lynn. She has this persona of being super classy but also sassy and I think it’s the perfect combination. Her songwriting is so just “tell it like it is” and I love that and I strive to write like that.
What has brought you here to this moment, becoming a discovery artist?
Lots of hard work and great people! I have been pursing music for sometime now, and through the years I have met and worked with so many people that have encouraged me and also challenged me to be better. My producer Dan Swinimer really flipped my world (for the better) when he saw my vision and made it into something so much more. I can’t wait for everyone to hear what we have been working on!
How did it feel when you found out?
When I found out I was going to be a part of the Discovery program I was an emotional wreck! I was crying and laughing because I was so excited and honoured to be selected for this program.
What can we expect from you over the next year?
This next year is going to be an exciting one! I will be releasing my first single to radio in the fall and then we will see where that takes us!
