1. Top way to countdown to Christmas
A: When I was a kid it was chocolate advent calendars, but now I love decorating the house, putting up the tree, and listening to Christmas music non-stop as a way to countdown to Christmas.
Z: I clearly haven’t grown up. I still love chocolate advent calendars ;)
2. Favourite Christmas Carol
A: I love our version of “O Holy Night” that we recorded with Jess Moskaluke.
Z: Does “River” by Joni Mitchell count?
3. Top 3 Christmas movies, go!
A: I know they’re not Christmas movies, but I love binge watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy every holiday season.
Z: I’m a sucker for classic Christmas movies like “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “White Christmas”! Of course, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is also on the list :)
4. Top 2 things every Christmas Carol needs
A: Hope. And sleigh bells :)
Z: Love. And mistletoe!
5. Top 3 Christmas Treats
A: Mmm…shortbread, shortbread and shortbread.
Z: My grandma’s peanut butter squares, nanaimo bars, and any other form of chocolate!
6. Worst Christmas present you ever received?
A: Orange flavoured chocolate. Every year. Yuck. #firstworldproblem
Z: No comment! I could never throw a gift giver under the bus like that! ;)
7. Any funny Christmas memories or stories?
A: A few years ago my aunt gave me, my siblings, and cousins the exact same Christmas sweater. I immediately thought it was a gag gift and yelled out “Awesome! An ugly Christmas sweater!”. I realized the words I was saying as they came out of my mouth and to this day, I have no idea if she meant it as a legit gift or a gag gift.
Z: Having a boozy Christmas party with my closest peeps! Ali is welcome to wear her ugly Christmas sweater this year.
8. Real Christmas tree or fake?
A: Real, all the way.
Z: What Ali said!
9. Your top 3 Holiday Traditions?
A: “Cousin Christmas” (where my whole crazy extended family gets together on my Dad’s side a few weeks before Christmas and ruckus ensues), the classic huge turkey dinner squished around the table with loved ones (complete with all the holiday fixin’s) and singing christmas carols around the piano while my Dad tickles the ivories.
Z: Watching the movie “White Christmas” every Christmas eve, getting “ugly socks” every year from one of my best friends, and watching my nieces and nephews open their presents! So fun!
10. Who has the funniest Christmas sweater?
A: Well, now you know I certainly have one (see #7). ;)
Z: I think Ali takes the cake on that one!
11. What is at the top of your Christmas list?
A: Honestly…the time with family and loved ones is what matters to me most.
Z: I’m far more materialistic than Ali! I hope Santa brings me a Vitamix! I’m a bit of a health junkie – so it’s not out of the ordinary for me to want a blender for Christmas ;) Of course, I’ll make festive green smoothies with it!
12. What goes on top of your tree?
A: A star!
